Dick McCaw was co-founder of the Actors Touring Company in 1978, and of the Medieval Players in 1981.  Between 1993 and 2001 he was Director of the International Workshop Festival (IWF) for whom he curated 9 festivals featuring major figures in the performing arts (DVD and DVD ROM documentations of some of these workshops can be accessed through the Exeter Digital Archive).  After leaving IWF he has continued his commitment to artist development in various forms:

by curating workshop programmes Circulation and Theatre Venture, by leading post-show discussions with artists in the London International Mime Festival, and by co-curating A Feeling for Practice for Dance Umbrella (London). Another such initiative has been Writing on the Body, Writing on the Page.  Between 2001 and 2007 he studied Laban movement with Geraldine  Stephenson, and in 2007 he qualified as a practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method.  He currently works as a senior lecturer (part-time) at Royal Holloway, University of London.  In 2006 he published An Eye for Movement (a book about Warren Lamb who developed Rudolf Laban’s ideas to create Movement Pattern Analysis). He has been commissioned to edit and introduce a Sourcebook for Rudolf Laban (Routledge) and the Complete Laban Toolkit (Nick Hern Books).
